Changes Are Coming

Yes. You. Are. There are some really amazing changes coming to the blog. It’s getting  facelift and in the mean time, I’m going to take a small break from writing. But don’t worry more amazing sustainable fashion is to come. Think of this like how when your favorite show ( The Walking Dead, Wendy Williams, Modern Family) season comes to an end and you are faced with re-runs until it’s return. That’s kind of how things are going to work here. I will keep you posted on all of the new changes to come and I’m going to reminisce on some of my favorite blog posts. As most of you may know by now, I am pregnant… I kid I kid. I am not pregnant! I REPEAT I am not pregnant! I just wanted to see if you were awake out there. 🙂 Sometimes I think that I am truly writing to myself on this blog. But I really desire to connect with you guys! My blog is making it’s transition to a sustainable fashion blog and I might find ways to incorporate some beauty and fitness in too! 😉 I really want to hone in on sustainable fashion because I love to see how companies are creating new and innovative ways to protect our environment and to help people. It is a worthy cause and its a way to incorporate something I love (STYLE) with a philanthropic cause.

So you! Yes you! Reading this post, please share this with a friend and follow my blog because MYBROWNSPARKLEZ.COM will be the premiere destination on learning how to sustain(ify) your heart and your wardrobe. Yes I said sustainify and I don’t care if it’s not a real word.  So click subscribe at the bottom of the screen! Also, take time to check me out on my other social media channels. You can find me on Instagram via @mybrownsparklez and on Twitter via @Mz_keenah. I L-O-V-E engaging with you guys and I look forward to unveiling the new blog and getting your feedback! Thank you so much for your support and kindness!

Styles from Reclaimed Vintage

So since discovering ASOS Eco-edit, I have been constantly checking the site for styles to love and good steals! Like this drop waist white top from Reclaimed Vintage.

“Reclaimed Vintage scours the globe to source rare fabrics and designs for its collection of reworked and authentic vintage clothing. Expect dead-stock retro shirts, vintage tees and sweatshirts, alongside “true vintage” pieces.”

I loved pairing this quarter sleeve top with my favorite faux leather tights and ankle booties. Who says you cant wear white after labor day? Click here to shop my fave looks from Reclaimed Vintage!

10 Minimalist Jewelry Pieces from Made in Kenya ASOS

Why do we love minimal jewelry so much? It’s essentially a small charm attached to a chain. Why is this the trend? While I can’t speak for anyone else, I can tell you why I gravitate toward minimal jewelry pieces. Simplicity. I love fashion just as much as the next fashionista next door. What I don’t love is having my jewelry compete with my entire outfit. It should compliment what I am wearing in the best way. Like this Made Triangle Pendant Necklace. It’s blingy but simple at the same time. And it hits just at the right length.

Here are my favorite [ethical] minimalist jewelry pieces from Made ASOS to covet right now:

Winter Basics from ASOS Eco-edit

These high-neck sweaters from ASOS (eco-edit) are my faves right now. They are in neutral colors that pair perfectly with most of my Winter wardrobe. They are fitted and soft and I’ll for sure get plenty of wear out of these. Best of all they come in packs of two! I find that one of my major challenges as a  sustainable blogger is finding affordable ethical/eco fashion. There are so many great brands out there now (and more popping up every minute) but the price points don’t always fit everyone’s budget. It makes me so happy to find affordable sustainable fashion because then I can share it with you guys! Like this boyfriend sweater that’s on sale for $18 which is also from their eco-edit.

As we approach 2017, expect to see more and more sustainable brands featured on the blog. My goal is to only have sustainable brands on the site by 2017. This means that even if I am wearing something that’s not from a sustainable brand, I won’t post a link to it. I want to use my blog as a platform to showcase only those companies and brands that are doing good things in the world. If you are new to visiting my blog and want to better understand my personal mission, you should definitely read my post What’s the Deal with Eco- Fashion? It breaks down what ethical, sustainable, eco fashion means to me. And why I have decided to focus on this topic for a blog. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I love reading comments on my blog. Good and bad. It lets me know that someone out there is listening. It lets me know what you are interested in. And I am happy to converse about the topic. Are you an eco-fashionista? What are your favorite brands? Drop your instagram handle in the comment box. I want to connect with you stylish eco-ladies out there!

The Cutest Kimono : OOTD

Get ready! I am flooding your timeline with styles from ASOS Eco-brands because I just can’t get enough. Ever since I discovered that the fast fashion mega brand has their own eco-fashion labels I’ve been hooked. I bought this super feminine kimono romper on sale for $45 and I’m loving all the ways I can style it. Though rompers are typically a summer style, the dark print will go perfectly with black leggings making it Fall friendly. Fortunately for me, I live in Texas and the weather is still toasty. I loved the detailed rope belt that adds a pop of color and the extra flared sleeves.

  1. Reclaimed Vintage Kimono RomperReclaimed Vintage is just one of the eco-brands ASOS carries. This brand is known for re-purposing old fabrics and making them into chic bohemian styles. Perfect for festival! I also love this French chic look from them.
  2. MADE Triangle Pendant Necklace – Love the simplicity of minimal jewelry
  3. The bag is vintage, here’s a similar one. I added the patches myself, here are some fun ones you can add to your bag, jacket, or jeans!
  4. My mules are from Calvin Klein, they are sold out but this black pair is perfect for the outfit and they are under $40!
