The Best of 2016

Happy 2017! How are you doin’!!! I can’t tell you how excited I am for 2017. The past year has been a whirlwind of me trying to create a system for the blog. The best thing about 2016 was the gains and progress I have made on my blog. For those who don’t understand how meaningful a blog is, let me break it down for you. My blog is the ultimate creative outlet. It’s not about making money. It’s about opening new doors, creating new connections, and watching myself blossom in all areas of my life. There were some challenges in relation to the blog, but in the end there were more wins than losses. So in honor of a new year and of new things to come, I wanted to take some time to reflect on the greatness that was 2016.  From awesome fashion and learning how to work my new lumix camera to create stunning images, 2016 has been about learning. I anticipate 2017 will be full of learning opportunities as well, but I’ll be able to really use some of the skills that I worked so hard to perfect during 2016. So this year expect a new look, more awesome fashion, and more personal posts. In the meantime, please check out the blog posts that caused a stir in 2016.

Beauty Products to Covet this Spring – All of these wonderful products made Spring so much easier to soak in. Enjoy!

Eleve All Day: Natural Mineral Makeup – I truly enjoy going to mixers in boutiques where I can meet designers and business owners in person. Gertie of Eleve is a doll and even contributed to my end of  the year giveaway!

Brand Spotlight: Veja – This eco-friendly shoe brand are stylish and I can’t wait to finally get my hands on a pair.

Raven + Lily Local Sustainable Fashion – This brand is based in my hometown of Austin, Texas and I am forever grateful that I discovered it.

OOTD : Stripes for Spring – This was my first professional photo shoot and I really enjoyed it.  I learned so much about posing an photography thanks to my wonderful photographer friend Tomas Segura. Check out his work here!

Do You Even Thrift Bro? – I really love this title. Haha! This is me being clever. 🙂 The thrifty fashion is good too! Expect to see more thrift finds on the blog in the future!

I hope you enjoy reflecting on my 2016 best blog posts with me. You know after everything is said and done, I really enjoy the entire process of blogging. And I truly value the relationships, feedback, and opportunities that blogging brings into my life. I’m ready for you 2017! Happy New Year everyone! May you all have a wonderful and successful year to come. 🙂

P.S. Side Note: What’s the appropriate length of time that you can say Happy New Year? Someone let me know! haha.

Changes Are Coming

Yes. You. Are. There are some really amazing changes coming to the blog. It’s getting  facelift and in the mean time, I’m going to take a small break from writing. But don’t worry more amazing sustainable fashion is to come. Think of this like how when your favorite show ( The Walking Dead, Wendy Williams, Modern Family) season comes to an end and you are faced with re-runs until it’s return. That’s kind of how things are going to work here. I will keep you posted on all of the new changes to come and I’m going to reminisce on some of my favorite blog posts. As most of you may know by now, I am pregnant… I kid I kid. I am not pregnant! I REPEAT I am not pregnant! I just wanted to see if you were awake out there. 🙂 Sometimes I think that I am truly writing to myself on this blog. But I really desire to connect with you guys! My blog is making it’s transition to a sustainable fashion blog and I might find ways to incorporate some beauty and fitness in too! 😉 I really want to hone in on sustainable fashion because I love to see how companies are creating new and innovative ways to protect our environment and to help people. It is a worthy cause and its a way to incorporate something I love (STYLE) with a philanthropic cause.

So you! Yes you! Reading this post, please share this with a friend and follow my blog because MYBROWNSPARKLEZ.COM will be the premiere destination on learning how to sustain(ify) your heart and your wardrobe. Yes I said sustainify and I don’t care if it’s not a real word.  So click subscribe at the bottom of the screen! Also, take time to check me out on my other social media channels. You can find me on Instagram via @mybrownsparklez and on Twitter via @Mz_keenah. I L-O-V-E engaging with you guys and I look forward to unveiling the new blog and getting your feedback! In the meantime, what would you like to know more about sustainable fashion? Drop me your questions in the comments sections below and I promise I will get back to you and I may even dedicate a blog post to your question!

Thank you so much for your support and kindness!

Metallic Top Won’t Stop

As you can probably tell by now, I am absolutely loving this metallic crop top that I scored at H&M. It’s only $4.99 and its a simple closet piece that can spice up any outfit. I really like pairing it with fun highwaist skirts. The black skirt I’ve had for years and I orignally bought it at Forever 21 (one of the few pieces that I still have from that store). My fishbone stockings are from Swedish stockings an awesome sustainable stockings line that really makes transitioning my skirts into fall and winter super br(easy)! Use my code: Mybrownsparklez for 15% off your order at Swedish Stockings! And of course my favorite lace up pumps from Chinese Laundry. Gotta love em!

Basic White Button Down

That moment you discover that your local park is the best place to take photos. I wore this look to work the other day (minus the hat and vest) and I totally slayed it. There’s nothing basic about this outfit. But this basic white button down will take you places. Its’s a closet essential that can carry you from work, a day running errands, or a night out on the town! This style sold out really fast!  It’s a truly versatile closet piece that every woman needs in er wardrobe. If not two!

Shine in Metallics

There’s a whole lot of shine going on with this outfit. From the metallic crop top to the metallic embroidery on the tutu skirt and the inner lining of my faux fur vest. It’s safe to say I’ve found my NYE outfit. I’m not a fan of sequins because they are way too gaudy and cheap looking( ehemmm). I can only take it in small doses LOL. But this metallic is EVERTHINGGG!

Metallic Crop Top

Winter in Texas means I can still wear crop tops like this adorable metallic gold one. Have you found your holiday sparkle yet? I couldn’t resist the ultra cheap price of this  metallic tank from H&M. It’s not a sustainable purchase, BUT I did purchase a chic white button down from their Conscious line during the same shopping trip. I’m not the perfect shopper. But that’s what make me perfect! – This crop top will carry you from holiday party to NYE in a blink. I am so happy with my purchase and I can even work this top into my spring and summer wardrobes. Which is key!
